Performance Behaviors And Expectations
Diversity is incorporated into the:
- DUH Balanced Scorecard
- Departmental Balanced Scorecard
- Departmental Staff Member’s Job Description
- Part of the expected job results and behaviors in the performance planning process

Duke University Hospital staff are expected to demonstrate role-model behavior related to issues of diversity. There is only one level of acceptable performance for this competency.
Indicators of Effective Behavior:
- Treat people fairly and respectfully regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation or preference, sex, or age.
- Regard, recognize and value differences in the needs and views of others.
- Take advantage of the rich backgrounds and diverse talents of DUH staff.
